Well, hello there!
I find myself creating this post for you in my big, white, fluffy, über cozy bed at the Rancho Las Palmas Resort and Spa in Rancho Mirage, California. Wow.
Promise me you won’t get used to me blogging from fancy places as decadent as this resort and I will attempt to not expect to be blogging from places such as this.
So, why am I here? Good question. I am here with the Elite Meetings Alliance. It is an event for meeting planners and they do an outstanding job at showcasing these properties, their sponsors, and the hoteliers that also attend from around the world. Kind of like a one-stop-shop for me, the planner.
I brought my dear hubby, Dave, along with me and he has absolutely ZERO responsibilities for four days. Can you fathom that, FOUR DAYS?! The entire first day here I could sense his uncomfortability with that. We arrived here on Saturday afternoon and headed straight to the spa (surprise, Dave!) and we had HOURS to spend there before my first meeting began. I jumped right into the fluffy, soft, über cozy robe and chilled out immediately. Dave, on the other hand, looked around like “what am I supposed to do with this place?” eventually he tried the jacuzzi, the steam, and so on.
We had an interesting couples massage, more on that later, and we had a lovely day together by the spa pool. We had to shift gears though in order to enjoy where we were.
That got me thinking and you know me when I get to thinking,I blog about it!
Why am I here? Why am I at this resort, the , spa, work, home? It doesn’t matter but ask yourself and give yourself the truest answer. The real why? Today I am here because I want to meet others planners, hoteliers, lean about the meetings profession because it is only a piece of what I do and so on. So if that is my why I should be fully engaged in this meeting here and now because it the perfect chance for me to learn about the things I just listed!
Why is Dave here? To get some R and R, to support me, adventure. Obviously his purpose is a little different from mine but knowing the true why has helped us to enjoy this trip. Neither of us left with expectations any different from that. Are you going through life with a why that isn’t fully described or understood? it could be the point of a lot of frustration for you or those around you.
Thankfully this place is an amazing place to be no matter what your why is!
What is your why right now? Why are you working so hard, concentrating on that certain something or spending time with that person? Knowing the why can bring clarity and I encourage you to explore it.
All the best,
The wild, wonderful, working Jasmine
