By the skin of my teeth. A post about how I narrowly escaped disaster.
17 years old.
Driving to school.
Winter in Southwest Iowa.
Hey, I’m flying. In my car.
I’m going to die.
Crash, bang, boom.
I’m still alive?
At just 17 years old I had the most serious car accident of my entire life. I hit black ice, lost control of the car and slid through the guard posts straight off a 60 foot embankment. My car flipped in the air and landed on its roof. Upside-down in a rail yard.
One very kind driver stopped to see if I was okay. Luckily, I was! Without a scratch on my body. I was pretty freaked out, though.
After a close brush with death you look at life differently. Being alive, fully alive, and enjoying your life is pretty cool.
I’m also extremely grateful I had no passengers in the car that day. Thank the heavens for that.
